Surfboard Types

Retro Fish - Retro fish surfboards are in the smaller size range and are popular as they provide a looser more zippy riding style.  The retro fish is generally more popular amongst younger surfers (18 - 30s) as these boards perform best for an agile and aggressive surfer and are akin to more of a skateboard riding style.  As a promotional surfboard they are smaller and work well as signage in limited spaces.  Because of their smaller size retro fish surfboards can also be used as write-on / wipe-off boards as shown under "Promotion Applications" and for other unique signage applications as well.

Shortboard - Shortboards are by far the most popular style of surfboard and what the top pros ride in the most popular professional competition circuit for both men and women.  The shortboard is a great overall representation of surfing and the lifestyle.

Fun Board - The fun board is one of the newest contenders amongst surfboard types and is a hybrid cross between a shortboard and a longboard.  This board style provides a larger promotional impact from a size standpoint.

Longboard - The longboard has been around the longest and is a descendent from the pioneer days of surfing before any other style of surfboard was developed.  The longboard is still very popular today and second in popularity next to the shortboard.  The longboard is popular amongst all ages but most popular amongst middle aged and older surfers.  Longboards are not only a standard that represent surfing as a whole they also provide the largest promotional impact size wise.

Gun - The "gun" not shown here but worthy of mention is a surfboard specifically designed for big wave surfing.  They are best described as 'long shortboards' in the fun board size range but with a much more streamlined shape and more pointy nose and tail compared to a fun board or longboard.  Guns provide the necessary board size to aid the surfer in paddling into and catching big waves.  Guns are most popular in big wave locations like the north shore of Hawaii or Mavericks in California.  Certainly gun boards can also be used for promotional purposes.
